Previous Achievements

Highlights of TripleQ achievements to date:

Direct customers have included Airwave, O2 / Telefonica, Vodafone and ‘3’, along with a number of their contractors and subcontractors.

The work has included:

  • Provided antenna system audits and physical optimisation of antenna system for various O2 regions, for a number of years.  Steady work from South West Region, later to be merged as part of the South Region.  Intermittent work from London and Midlands regions.  Created and used own report forms, in line with customer requirements.
  • Provided various ad-hoc maintenance of O2 antenna systems.  Identified, and resolved faults where possible.  The resolution was usually poorly made, or poorly tightened connectors, although other ‘faults’ included damaged cables and poorly positioned antennas.  Provided written reports as necessary.
  • Carried out decommissioning surveys on around 200 radio masts around the country.
Carried out major decommissioning work on over 100 radio masts around the country.   This including being ‘given the entire remainder of the contract’, when another contractor, who had won around one-third of the work, consistently failed.

  • Provided a number of ‘new build’ antenna installation audits for ‘3’.  Explained how the current audit company could not possibly be completing the work they claimed to be doing.  Created and used our own report forms in line with customer requirements.
  • Requested by Airwave to investigate an intermod problem on a number of sites.  Apparently there were 8 previous failed attempts, which piece by piece had included replacing an entire site, without resolving the problem.  Resolved within 4 hours.
  • Requested by Airwave to investigate their antenna network maintenance contractor, and to answer the question.  “Why do our processes not work?”  Reviewed all sides of the work including what work was actually in the contract, what work was being provided, the software tools being used, and staff provided for the work.  Found major challenges in all areas.  Provided clear recommendations for moving forward.  Also pointed out that considerably financial saving could be made by working more closely with the contractor.
  • Provided RET antenna training courses for O2 and Vodafone installation contractors, and their managers.
  • Contacted by O2, and given the following concern:   ‘Help.  We think we have problems with out quality’.  This was with reference to ‘new build’ antenna installations.  Created audits and reports, in conjunction with specific customer requests.  Three primary areas considered:  (1) Health and Safety Risks  (2) Immediately Service Affecting  (3) Long Term risk to service.  Reported findings and suggestions.
  • Contacted by ‘Cornerstone’, (a collaboration between O2 and Vodafone), and given a similar concern to the above:  ‘Help. In addition to site specific suggestions, suggested that additional savings could be made by combining the Site Build Audit with the Antenna System Audit.
